Moose Wood Carvings
Bugling Bull Elk Carving
A bugling bull elk in the rocky mountains is enough to bring chills up ones spine! I have always admired bull elk as one of the most beautiful creatures on earth! Here I have sculpted one to my liking since I was never able to harvest one myself. The most difficult part of the sculpture is deciding how to carve and mount the horns. The horns on an Elk are very unique to the region they grow. Genetics are only to blame. The Rockies Elk have typical horns that classically drop back at the ends. Whereas the Elk in Oregon and the Cascades curl up and fork at the ends. The elk that I carved is depicted as a Rocky Mountain Elk. Ive only seen a handful of Elk carved out of wood with very few of which I can Identify with. So Here I decided that the world needed one done right.

This is a new sculpture that I recently made.
I have been meaning to post it for a while but things have slowed down a little and I finally have a chance. Hope you like it. This was a custom order from someone from Kenai.
Here is a new moose carvings I made for a guy several weeks ago.
He was a real moose fan and wanted a sculpture that looked real and like it was moving.
Voila!
I spent a whole day on this one. I carved it, painted it, and oiled it with some flack seed oil.
By the way here is an article that this local newspaper called the Turnagain Times did of me back this summer. They heard about me and sent one of their journalists Karen Garcia to come and check it out.
She wrote a nice review about my carving work. Thanks

If you go to my property that’s what you are going to see half my inventory is. Moose sculptures. Everyone loves custom moose wood carvings. Everyone wants the moose holding up a ”welcome sign.”
I say “What are you looking for in a wood sculpture?” And half of them say they want……a moose. Great! So I carve them a moose.
I never would have thought so many would love my goofy little moose carvings. but it seems that thats where about half the orders come from now!
