On a rainy day in the Pacific Northwest I like to make these pieces to remind everyone, including myself, that there are better days ahead.

Everyone found this carvings I made of a bear surfing hilarious.  As soon as I made it someone came by and bought it right away.  To be quite honest, I was hoping this particular one would stay out there for a couple days.  Oh well, its always nice to get money; I can never turn it down no matter how attached I get to my carvings

Here are a couple pictures of some welcome animal sculptures I made recently.  They make perfect additions to your home.  I have made other animals but these are a select few that I really like and enjoyed making.

Here is another welcome carving I made for a customer of mine.  Its a welcome Eagle.  I think it came out really well.

Here is a 3 foot tall welcome beer I recently did for a customer in the Seattle area.  I was carving a medium bear beer last week and this guy came by asking me to do a carving for a new house he just bought.  He was having a house warming and wanted something at the entrance to welcome guests.  I told him about the Welcome Bears I do and he liked it.  Here it is.  I decided in bear to use a new fur cutting process with a Makita electric chainsaw because my results were a little bit course with the normal saw I normally use.  The results from this particular saw, I found, was more pleasing to the eye.  The result: my Welcome Bear has been transformed into the Waving Welcome Bear.

These are some of the bear wood carvings I did this summer.  They ranged from short little bears people use to open up their bottles, called “Beer Bears”, to large 8 ft tall bears that look like they are about to lunge out at you.  Bears and moose carvings are the most popular.  Everyone wants those.  They are nice editions to anyone’s front porch.  If you have any special requests please contact me and tell me what you have in mind.  Lately I have been experimenting with other animals, like frogs and owls, but bear carvings will always be my most popular.
